Happy Lunar New Year! A Gentle Reset

Happy Lunar New Year! A Gentle Reset

The Lunar New Year always feels like a second beginning.
A softer chance to reset.

I had planned to finish this blog while I was in Cuba last month… but life had other plans. The wifi was very unstable there. Oh well…

Travel, rest, and then a few days of not feeling well once I came home. I needed time to recover from traveling. Ugh! My body just shut down from tiredness. I wasn’t sick — just tired. Oh well… maybe that, too, was part of the reset. Haha.

Cuba was much cooler than expected because of the storm, but it was still exactly what I needed. Slower mornings. Warm(er) air. Time that didn’t feel scheduled down to the minute.  It was a good vacation overall!

I brought Bittersweet by Susan Cain with me and finished it. The subtitle — How sorrow and longing make us whole — resonated with me so much.

The book cover even matched with our room! 😊

It made me think about how rest doesn’t always look bright and joyful. Sometimes it’s reflective. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s sitting with thoughts.

I was reading, journaling, thinking.
Reflecting.
Relaxing.

There was also salsa dancing with friendly locals, and a few rum cocktails enjoyed.

Coming home, I realized something.
A reset doesn’t always mean reinventing everything.
Sometimes it simply means returning to what matters.

For me, that looks like:
Warm tea in my favourite cup.
A notebook page. (Or three. I will write about it soon. )
One focused task at a time.

As we move into this new lunar cycle, I’m choosing gentle structure over pressure. Slow over fast. Depth over noise. I want to be intentional.

Maybe this season isn’t about doing more.
Maybe it’s about doing what matters — with care.

I’m also thinking of starting The Artist’s Way. I’ll write about that soon.
If you are feeling like to reset too, I hope you allow yourself a soft one.

One cup of tea at a time. 🍵
