🧊 Cold Brew Tea — My Summer Experiment

🧊 Cold Brew Tea — My Summer Experiment

Summer is the perfect season for iced tea.

I usually make iced tea using a hot brew method—brewing the tea with hot water and then cooling it quickly over ice. It's quick, easy, and delicious.

This summer, I had a few conversations with customers about cold brew tea, and I became even more curious. I wanted to try making cold brew tea myself.

So, let's start the experiment!

🧊 How to Make Cold Brew Tea

For my first cold brew experiment, I chose two of my favourite summer teas.  Darjeeling Blueberry and Oolong Sweet Watermelon.

I wanted something refreshing and full of flavour, and I was curious to discover how these teas would taste when brewed slowly with cold water instead of hot.

I was excited to find out.

First, I measured out 6 teaspoons of tea leaves and added them to 1 litre of cold water.

Ooooh... they already smelled amazing!

Now comes the hardest part...Waiting.

I placed the jars in the fridge and decided to leave them for about 8 hours.

Many cold brew recipes suggest steeping tea in the refrigerator for 6–12 hours, depending on the type of tea and how strong you like it.

Now, I just have to wait and see how they turn out!

🍵 The First Taste

First Impression

The colour was lighter and a little cloudier than my usual hot brew iced tea.

Aroma

Both teas had a wonderful fruity aroma. The blueberry and watermelon flavours really stood out.

Flavour

The flavour was smooth and refreshing, but I found the tea itself was lighter than I expected.

How Was It Different from My Usual Hot Brew Iced Tea?

Making cold brew tea couldn't be easier—just add cold water, place it in the fridge, and wait.

For me, though, I still prefer the hot brew method. It brings out more body and richness in the tea.

Still, it was a fun experiment, and I'm glad I finally tried it!

🌿 Have You Ever Tried Cold Brew Tea?

Have you ever tried making cold brew tea?

This week, I experimented with two of our favourite summer teas to see how they worked as a cold brew. It was fun to discover a different side of teas I already enjoy.

If you have a favourite way to enjoy iced tea, I'd love to hear about it.

This summer, I'm enjoying discovering new ways to enjoy tea. I hope you'll join me. 🍹
