🌿June is National Iced Tea Month
And Today, June 10th, is National Iced Tea Day!
Did you know that iced tea becoming popular was actually a happy accident?
Back in 1904, at the World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri, a tea merchant named Richard Blechynden was trying to sell hot tea. But it was a really hot day. Nobody wanted a hot drink!
So he added ice.
People loved it. And that's how iced tea became the drink we know today. 🧊
(Iced tea had actually been around before this moment, but it was the World's Fair that made it a true American favourite.)
☀️Summer in Canada
The warm days are here. Poolside, by the lake, at the park, on the patio.
On days like that, iced tea is all you need. 🧊
Bottled iced tea is always an option. But homemade is so much better. You control the sweetness. You choose the tea. You make it exactly the way you like it.
👍The Simple Rule of Thumb
Making iced tea at home is easier than you think.
Brew double strength. Since you're pouring over ice, start with twice the amount of tea you normally would.
Pour over ice. That's it. You're done!
Sweeten while warm. If you're using regular sugar or honey, stir it in while the tea is still warm. Or use simple syrup or agave syrup — they mix in beautifully at any temperature.

☀️ Then, Have Fun With It!
This is the best part.
Add fresh fruit. Add herbs. Try peach, strawberry, or mint — or experiment with your favourite fruits and herbs to find your perfect blend! 🌿

Feeling fancy? A splash of sparkling wine takes it somewhere really special. 🍾
There's no wrong answer. Just cold tea and good times.
