🌸 Sakura, Spring, and New Beginnings

🌸 Sakura, Spring, and New Beginnings

In Japan, cherry blossoms are more than just beautiful flowers. 🌸

They are part of everyday life. It is deeply tied to the rhythm of the seasons and to changing life stages.

April is when the school year begins.
New students walk through school gates for the first time.
Graduates step into a new chapter.
People start new jobs, new routines, new lives.

And almost always, there are cherry blossoms.

I still think of those moments, standing under the trees for a school photo, the soft pink petals above, the feeling of something beginning.

In Japan, spring often feels like a second New Year.

🌿 Sakura in Everyday Life

There are many different kinds of cherry blossoms in Japan.

The most well-known is "Somei Yoshino", soft, pale pink blossoms that bloom all at once, and then fall just as quickly. That short-lived beauty is part of why sakura is so loved. It doesn’t last long. And maybe that’s why people gather under the trees, year after year. Not just to look, but also to feel the moment.

🍡 Beyond the Trees

Sakura isn’t only something we see.
It’s also something we taste.

Sakura mochi, rice cake wrapped in a lightly salted cherry leaf.
Sakura tea, made with preserved blossoms.
Seasonal sweets that appear only for a short time.

There is always a quiet understanding — it won’t last forever.
And that’s part of what makes it special.

🍵 Sakura Green Tea

That feeling of something brief, beautiful, and seasonal…
It is something I find in a cup of Sakura Green Tea as well.

Soft, light, and gently floral, it’s not a bold tea.

It’s the kind of tea you reach for when you want to pause and notice the shift of the season.

I often think of it as “spring in a cup.” 🌸
A simple way to enjoy the changing season — one cup at a time.

🌸🍵

And maybe that’s why this season feels especially close to my heart.
My eldest daughter’s name is Sakura. 🌸
