đ« What Is CHA CHAâs Tea Shop Mystery Book Club? đ
At CHA CHA TEA, tea has always been about more than just whatâs in the cup.
For me, tea has always been connected to people, conversations, and everyday life.
And Iâve loved books for as long as I can remember. And one dayâright after I opened the shop in 2006âone of my very first customers, Mrs. C, recommended the Tea Shop Mystery series by Laura Childs to me.
I started reading and was immediately hooked.
Not only by the mysteries themselves, but by how naturally tea appeared throughout the stories. Different teas, different moods, different moments. It felt familiar and comforting.
I began thinking how fun it would be to share those teasâthe ones that appear in the storiesâwith my customers. đ€
Not just the tea I drink myself, but the tea that lives inside the books.
Later on, after I became a certified tea sommelier in 2019, that idea slowly took shape. What if we could read together, talk about the story, and enjoy teas from the book side by side?
Thatâs how our CHA CHAâs Tea Shop Mystery Book Club began.
A Book Club Without Pressure
This isnât a book club where you need to analyze every chapter or have the ârightâ opinion.
You donât have to finish the book.
You donât have to speak if you donât feel like it.
Some people love discussing the story.
Some prefer to listen.
Some come mainly for the teaâand thatâs perfectly fine.
What matters most is creating a cozy, welcoming space to slow down and enjoy a story with tea.
Tea from the Story (In-Person Tea Tasting)
For each book, I choose three different teas that appear in the story.
If the book title includes a specific tea, we always taste that tea.
Other teas are selected directly from the bookâteas the characters drink or that play a role in the story.
During the workshop, we taste the teas, learn a little about each one, and talk about how they connect to the story.
This combination creates a special connection and brings the book a little closer to everyday life.
